Who Is Rizo Velovic?

Rizo Velovic is a reality TV star, a tech sales professional, and one of the most talked-about new players in Survivor history. He calls himself “the man, the myth, the legend, R-I-Z-G-O-D,” and fans know him simply as RizGod.

His story is rare. Most players wait years for a second chance at the game. Rizo Velovic played two full seasons almost back to back, reached the final four both times, and lost in the exact same way both times. No other player has done that.

He also made history as the first person of Albanian descent to play Survivor. He wore that fact with pride from his first day on the beach. For Rizo Velovic, the game was never just about the money. It was about his family, his roots, and a dream he held since he was a small boy.

Away from the show, he works in tech sales in New York. He also runs his own sports content brand, RizPod. His big personality made him a fan favorite, and fans already campaign for his return.

Rizo Velovic Early Life

Rizo Velovic was born on November 23, 1999, in Yonkers, New York. He is the eldest son of Albanian immigrant parents. His parents moved to the United States in the late 1990s to give their children a better life.

Life at home was not easy. Both of his parents worked two jobs to keep food on the table. His father and mother worked long hours, including custodian work. Because of that, young Rizo grew up fast.

He helped run the home from a young age. He filed the family taxes. He helped with house hunting. Most of all, he looked after his younger brother, Almir, who was diagnosed with autism at a very young age. Almir became his best friend and his biggest reason to push forward.

It was on one of those nights at home, while watching his brother, that Rizo found Survivor on television. He was eight years old. He watched winner JT Thomas play, and he was hooked for life.

School came next. After high school, he joined the University at Albany. He studied Mass Communication and graduated in 2021. He was the first person in his family to finish college. In college, game night was sacred. His roommates knew that Wednesdays belonged to Survivor.

At age 21, he helped his parents close on their first house. It was one of the proudest moments of his life.

How Old Is Rizo Velovic?

Rizo Velovic is 26 years old. He was born on November 23, 1999, in Yonkers, New York. He turns 27 on November 23, 2026.

His age became part of his story on the show. He was the youngest player on Survivor 49. One year later, he was also the youngest player on Survivor 50. He is only the second player in the show’s history to be the youngest castaway on two different seasons.

Being the youngest never slowed him down. Older legends of the game treated him as a real threat, and his deep runs in both seasons proved them right.

Rizo Velovic Career

Rizo Velovic built his career with people skills. In college, he trained for broadcast journalism. He covered live sports, including local New York teams, and he loved the work.

Near the end of college, he made a hard choice. He supported his parents and his brother with money, and starting pay in journalism was too low. So he moved into tech sales, a job built on reading people and building trust.

He has worked at his tech company for four years. Two of his best friends work there with him. The company backed him fully when he took long leave to film the show. In November 2024, he also became a notary public in New York, a side role he still holds.

His creative side lives online. He built RizPod, his own sports podcast and video brand. He directs, films, edits, and hosts the content himself.

The road to Survivor was the longest part of his career. He was a fan from age eight. He applied as an adult and won a place on Survivor 49. The day after that season ended, host Jeff Probst offered him a spot on Survivor 50 on a video call. Rizo said yes on the spot. He had just nine days of rest between the two seasons.

Rizo Velovic Career Timeline

Rizo Velovic Survivor Game History

Rizo Velovic played two seasons of the CBS reality show Survivor. Both seasons were filmed in Fiji. Both times, he lasted 25 days. Both times, he placed fourth. And both times, fire ended his game one step short of the final vote.

Survivor 49

Survivor 49 premiered on September 24, 2025. Eighteen new players competed for 26 days and a one million dollar prize. Rizo started on the Uli tribe and quickly built his own alliance.

A tribe switch on Day 7 moved him to the Hina tribe. After the switch, he found a hidden immunity idol. That idol became the center of his game. Everyone knew he had it, yet he held it for eight Tribal Councils. It worked like a shield. Rivals feared voting for him, so they voted for each other.

At the merge, he stood with Savannah Louie and Sophi Balerdi. Their trio was called Tres Leches. The trio started on the bottom, then slowly took control of the game. Rizo became the highest-placing man of the season.

He played his idol at the final five. At the final four, Sophi won the last immunity and took Sage Ahrens-Nichols to the end. That forced Rizo and Savannah into the fire-making challenge. Rizo lost the fire battle on Day 25 and finished fourth. He joined the jury as its final member and voted for Savannah, who won the season.

Survivor 50

Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans premiered on February 25, 2026. The milestone season brought back 24 returning players, and the grand prize was two million dollars. Rizo was one of only two players from Season 49 in the cast.

He started on the Vatu tribe. A switch on Day 7 moved him to the Cila tribe, where he teamed up with legend Cirie Fields. Together, they drove the vote that sent his rival Charlie Davis home.

After the merge, Rizo, Cirie, and Ozzy Lusth took control of the game. His run was fearless. At the final eight, he blindsided Ozzy after Ozzy leaked his endgame plan. Later, he turned on Cirie too, because he saw her as unbeatable at the end. He found another hidden immunity idol and held it deep into the game, just like his first season.

In the live finale on May 20, 2026, Jonathan Young won the first immunity and Tiffany Ervin was voted out fifth. Aubry Bracco then won the final immunity. She saved Joe Hunter and sent Rizo and Jonathan into the fire-making challenge. Rizo lost at fire on Day 25 and finished fourth again. He became the final member of the jury and voted for Aubry, who won the season.

His exit gave television one of its strangest live moments. During the live finale, the host brought Rizo out as the final jury member before the fire challenge had even aired. The crowd gasped, then chanted his name.
